I love to write. My career has spanned print journalism, media relations, magazine freelancing, private sector communication and marketing, and government communication and public relations. The common denominator over this 30-something years? Writing.

About me
Raised and educated in Sydney, I graduated from Macquarie University with a BA in English literature.
My journalistic career began at The Sydney Morning Herald, where I covered general news, police rounds, arts and lifestyle; and had the unique privilege of editing the SMH's iconic Column 8, as well as the daily Today's People column.
In 1991 I switched states and sides, taking up a media relations role for the Queensland Police Service. Freelance magazine writing and motherhood kept me insanely busy for the latter half of the 1990s.
A year-long caravan trip around Australia in 1999 with my photographer husband Steve, and our then two and four year olds produced two major achievements: a book, Australians - the people and their stories, published by Simon and Schuster in December 2000, and a third child.
For almost a decade I worked as a senior journalist with a boutique communication and marketing agency, where my key client was Tourism New England North West - creating content for, and promoting travel to, this beautiful country region of NSW.
In 2009, I dived into local government at City of Gold Coast (Council) in its Corporate Communication branch. My role involved development and implementation of communication and marketing plans, media liaison and issues management, account management, media opportunities, social media and creating content for corporate publications and digital channels.
Since 2021, I have been a freelance writer and publicist. I'm currently a senior account manager at Pure Public Relations. You'll find more detail about my professional experience on my Linked In page.
